Can you really build a do it yourself shed kit?  A new storage shed is a terrific addition to your property as it can house many items which may normally crowd yourself garage.  If you have some very rudimentary carpentry skills and some time over the weekend, this is something you should be able to complete quite easily if you have the right plans and support.

Now many of the do it yourself shed kits you may find don’t actually include the lumber.  However they should include all the hardware necessary as well as a complete list of the lumber that you will need.  Many of the better kits specify exactly the size and type of lumber necessary.  There are kits available which do include everything (including the lumber) but you will most likely save money if you purchase the lumber required yourself.  The best kits also include a detailed cut lumber spec sheet so you can get quotes from the lumber yard and compare several to save you money!

Whichever way you go, you will still have to paint the shed since every kit I have found which includes the lumber is unfinished.  So be sure to budget some paint, stain, and/or varnish into your shed building plans.  This is a step you don’t want to skimp on as it will add many years of useful life to your shed if done correctly.

So if you are handy with some basic power tools and can follow directions, a shed kit is a great way to provide for attractive and functional extra storage on your property.

Finding a shed kit you are happy with doesn’t take too much effort. In fact, you may have a very hard time deciding which of them to get due to all the great ones offered. They seem to drop in price all the time but the quality continues to get better. Shed kits are the perfect way to get the storage area you need at a fair price.

Regardless of what you go with such as a garden cabin or a log shed, you want to make sure that the base is very secure. This is the foundation upon which you will be placing the shed. Therefore it is very important that you take your time to make sure it is level and going to hold up well. Otherwise the overall quality and benefit from your shed kits won’t be what you had hoped for.

Do you plan to one day move your shed or will it remain where it is? That is important when it comes to the base that you will offer for it. Some people want to have a permanent entity with it so they lay concrete as the base for it. This can be expensive but it will last and it can add quite a bit of value to your property as well.

You do need to know that most shed kits will come with some type of base with them. That is all you will need though for them to be able to work properly. If you are going to make modifications you should know that those changes could end up voiding out any warranty that you have associated with it. Make sure you find out the details before you buy shed kits for that reason.

When you are shopping for them, always ask if a floor is included or not. That way you will know if you need to make arrangements to put one in place or not. That may seem like a silly question but there are many variables with shed kits that you need to take into consideration.

Places like garages are usually very messy. But then again, this is one part of your home, which you can really keep very organized and prettily decked up, if you follow the simple right rules. One big rule is to keep things ordered in such a way that you can find them whenever you need them and that too quickly. Garage organizers can help your garage get back in order and put an end to your struggle. Garage organizers come with lots of handy useful tools which you can generously employ when organizing your garage.

The truth is most of us often treat our garage as a dumping ground and always go on postponing the organizing work whenever it comes to clean the clutter. In average homes, the garage functions as the household store room or a general workshop besides parking the cars. Garage organizers help you accommodate these varied requirements. The organizers come in a wide array of options. If you make the wise choices while buying them, it can save you a great deal of money and space too. There are garage organizer kits available in the market which also include wall stand, mop and broom, a wall mounted stand, door basket with hooks, shelves and so on.

You may get hold of an overhead storage system which will keep all your household items. This way the floor space will be saved and your household stuffs will find a place. Plus, you can think of purchasing a wheeled garage cabinet to hold the most necessary garage tools. A cabinet with wheels can be easily shifted from one place to another depending on your place of work and this would make it all the more convenient than having to go and fetch every little important tool as and when you require while you are engaged in a particular work. A good garage organizer should be able to store all your items using the least available space.

Have you got to that point where you cant fit any more bits and peices in your cupboards and attics? If so i think its time for a shed! The easiest and cheapest way to do a diy project is to buy a set of small shed plans. How would you feel if you could make a shed yourself and best of all save money in the process??

A small shed is the perfect affordable additioin to a property to help clear all those cluttered storage cupboards full of junk. it will keep all your bits and peices safe and dry.?

Within a few weekends work and a good set of plans you will glide through the project with ease! you will never have to worry about finding the old suitcase under that 12 meter pile of junk! Or have to crawl under the house dragging out your lawn mower and a couple of spider bites! Follow the simple step by step small shed plans and youll get there in no time.

How to Create a Fail Safe Set of Small Shed Plans

1. If you are going to draw the plans up yourself then make sure you know what you are doing. If you are a DIY novice then I would strongly encourage you to seek out some advice from a professional or buy a simple set of DIY shed instuctions

2. Find out how much money it will cost before you start. If you have a good set of plans this should be relatively easy.

3. Make sure you allow an adequate amonut of time to complete the project. If your tool box is covered in dust (or you don’t even have one) then it is unrealistic to think that you will finish the project within a few hours.

4. Most importantly have fun. There is nothing better than getting outside and doing some hard work.

We moved into our house 1 year ago and it was the perfect house for my husband, myself and our two sons.  However, we soon realized that a garage would be a very needed addition to the house, not only for our cars to be kept out of the weather, but also for my husband to have a work place as well as storage.  So my husband went online to look for small garage plans to build the garage himself.

It would have been very costly to hire someone to build the garage, and we really could not afford it.  Even though my husband had never built anything but a small work bench before, he soon found the perfect set of plans with all the instructions he needed to build the garage.  It was made very simple as it provided all the dimensions, the materials, all the supplies he needed.  Everything was laid out step by step with blueprints and diagrams, so you could not go wrong.

So he went to work on the garage and with the help of his friend and neighbor it took them two months of work during weekends.  The garage came out great and we were all impressed at the quality job they did simply by following a set of plans.

Now we not only have a two car garage, but my husband really enjoys having his work area in the garage.  We also store the kids’ bicycles and games out of the weather, as well as the lawn equipment.

With the help of the small garage plans my husband and I were able to choose the perfect garage for us.  It really made a lot of difference to make this addition which provides a lot of comfort to us, and added to the value of our home as well.

For many people the garage becomes a place that just collects stuff that they cannot bring themselves to throw out. Before you know it the whole garage looks like a disaster area and you cannot get yourself in to do anything. You can forget about fitting a car in there. What many people fail to realize is that with a simple garage organizer you can not only rescue your garage from the mess that you have created but your new flair for garage organization has also created space for you to use your garage as what it was meant for, a place to park your car out of the elements.

The art of garage organization can be a very intimidating task depending on how much stuff you have collected in your garage that needs organizing. But in the end your garage organization will reap the rewards of a car that will last longer and it will also bring you the ability to get at that stuff that has been hiding in a heap in your garage for all of those years.

There are many ways to achieve garage organization but probably the easiest is to use cabinets and shelves. You would be surprised at how much stuff you can organize with a simple use of cabinets and a few well places shelves. If you are mounting your shelves or cabinets into the walls of your garage always make sure that you use the wall studs as a source of necessary support. When you are doing a garage organization you never know the weight of stuff you will have to deal with so always make sure your cabinets can handle it.

For the More Ambitious People

Many people like to take their garage organization one step further and remodel the roof of their garage to accommodate their clutter. Some people even go so far as to create a whole finished room in their garage ceiling to use as storage space. This is a great idea if you have the time and resources but always make sure you get a professional in to look at your garage before you start building.

No matter what your preference is it is always a good idea to get some garage organization to your clutter so that you can not only get at the things you need to get at but so that you can use your garage to protect your car as it was intended to do in the first place.

Reliable plans for any shed building project are essential for the project to proceed smoothly and without unnecessary expense. There are many shed plans available online, and you may start to feel a bit overwhelmed trying to decide between all the different plans available. Here are some ideas to help you narrow your search for reliable outdoor shed plans.

1) Consider your skill level. If you are a beginning shed builder, the type of shed plans you choose is especially important. You will want plans that are well illustrated and explained, with step by step instructions of the building process and complete material purchasing lists as well. Advanced builders may need less information, and may feel like a simple shed blueprint is adequate, but most shed builders appreciate detailed instructions regardless of skill level.

2) Shed size. You will be able to narrow down your search for the right shed plans considerably by determining in advance what size of shed you will be building. It is probably best to select plans slightly larger than you think you need, since it is always better to have a little too much shed space compared with too little.

3) Building Materials. Knowing in advance what kind of materials you want to use in your shed will help narrow your shed plans selection as well. If you are building a wooden shed, the wood you choose to build with will often impact your shed plan choice. For example, if you are using a dimensionally stable wood like cedar, your plans will need much less allowance for shrinkage and expansion than if you are building with pine.

4) Consider the Source. If you are downloading shed plans online, especially free shed plans, you should check to see if there is evidence that the plans are reliable, professional and have been used successfully by other home shed builders. Reliable shed plans will have contact information for the shed plan provider and supporting customer testimonials.

5) Variety. Although it is easy to be overwhelmed by the wide variety of plans available online, once you have narrowed your specifications down to a specific type of outdoor shed, you will appreciate having many different designs from which to select.

I am not sure when it all started, maybe in 1986 with Lionel Richie’s hit song, “Dancing on the Ceiling”. Perhaps a young child looked up and dreamt about dancing or walking on the ceiling, and though they may never have actually done that, they did realize that the ceiling had potential for other uses, like storage. Maybe someone discovered the use of ceiling space before then, I really don’t know. But I do know that there are a multitude of garage overhead storage options available today.

These options come in a couple of different forms. From shelves that hang, bolted from the ceiling, to pulley systems that you can use to lower and raise a shelf, to special tracks which allow you to hang everyday storage bins. But regardless of what type of garage overhead storage system works best for you, they all have some of the same basic advantages. Here are five reasons why you may want to use your ceiling space for storage.

  • Whether you own or rent a home, if you have a garage, you have space that you already “own”, so we should utilize all out space in the most efficient way possible. All garages have ceilings or rafters, so it makes sense to use them. Sure, if you have rafter, you can balance some items above them, such as skis or sleds, but a hanging shelf will hold a lot more stuff in a wider variety of shapes and sizes.
  • Many people have so much stuff that they don’t know what to do with, that they go and rent a storage unit. If you already have a garage, this does not make sense. As mentioned above, you are already paying for your living space, why pay more to store your stuff elsewhere? If you can store items in garage overhead storage instead of paying for self storage, you will save money. After all, most garage overhead storage systems can be paid for with the cost of only a few months worth of self storage.
  • Another great advantage of garage overhead storage compared to a storage unit, is that you can access your things at any time without leaving home. Sure, it is not as quick to access as a regular shelf, but it doesn’t take that much effort – definitely quicker and easier than traveling to a storage unit.
  • >

  • If you are like I have been, your indoor closet space is filled to capacity and beyond! Get things like keep sakes and seasonal items out of your closets and into garage overhead storage. They are the perfect storage solution for items that only have to be accessed occasionally.
  • Finally, the best reason to use garage overhead storage is to free up your garage so that your car can fit inside! So many garages become a catch all, that only 32% of people with a two car garage can fit one car inside, and 25% of two car garage owners can’t fit any car into their garage! Winter is coming quick, and you know that you don’t want to have to scrape the frost and snow from your car. Reclaim your garage now, and overhead garage storage is the perfect solution for part of this problem.
  • So, regardless of the type of garage overhead storage system that you use, it is easy to see that there are reasons why almost anybody would benefit.

Are you in need of a set of small shed plans and what they offer? Do you like so many others need to build a shed for storage? No matter the size of the home you live in or how much closet space you have there are items that have to be stored outside.

Stuff like lawn mowers, wheel barrows and other power tools that the wife wouldn’t want in her closets. If you have a garage it will only hold so much before the car can’t squeeze in.

As you already know a smaller shed isn’t too expensive on the wallet, doesn’t take up a lot of yard space and can be built in a short amount of time. A storage building will protect your tools from the elements and add value to your property. Now it’s time to build a storage shed to hold the things that can’t go in the house and won’t fit in the garage.

You need a set of shed blueprints that give you a selection of styles to choose from. The small shed blueprints need to have step by step instructions along with detailed blueprints. With these instructions and blueprints in hand the building of your shed is made easier and your storage problems are solved.

Finding the right shed plans can be time consuming and frustrating to say the least. Although there are many different sources I know you want easy to understand instructions blueprints that show exactly how the small shed lays out and any other aid you can get with your small shed plans. Finding all these features will take away the frustration and mistakes that are associated with building a shed.

My wife and I recently adopted a four year old sheepdog from a local farmer who was selling up and leaving the area. I love sheepdogs, they are so intelligent and this one was no exception. There was a problem though, the dog just did not like being in the house for any length of time obviously preferring the yard.

A call to our old friend the farmer confirmed my suspicions; the dog had always slept outside in a part of a small outhouse.

The obvious answer was a dog kennel and so I went online and did a search for dog kennel plans. As I pride myself on my DIY this seemed like a good project to test my skills.

The first thing that struck me was the amount of different designs but in the end I settled for a set of very reasonably priced plans that included not only dog kennel plans but plans for garden sheds, garages, carports etc.

Having decided on the size and design of the kennel I made a list of the wood and fixings required from the plans and picked them up from the hardware store.

I chose pressure treated wood for the main body of the kennel but for the doorway I used cedar as I didn’t want any part that the dog might chew on making him sick.

If you live in a warm climate you should choose a kennel plan that has good cross ventilation. For cooler climes use a blanket or straw for insulation.
